The Toronto stock market posted a slight gain thanks to higher mining stocks.
The S&P/TSX composite index moved 30.72 points higher to 11,658.7 amid data showing the Canadian economy grew for a second consecutive month in October. Gross domestic product moved up by 0.2%.
The Canadian dollar was ahead 0.85 of a cent to 95.38 cents U.S., while oil gained $2.27 to US$76.67. Gold bullion ran up $7.30 to US$1,094 an ounce.
The gains came despite disappointing economic data in the United States.
The U.S. Commerce Department reported that sales of new homes plunged unexpectedly by 11.3% to the lowest level since April.
New York's Dow Jones added 1.51 points to 10,466.64, while the Nasdaq composite index moved ahead 16.97 points to 2,269.64. The S&P 500 ticked ahead 2.57 points to 1,120.59.
