Surgeons have removed 12 bars of gold from a man’s stomach in Delhi, India, BBC reports.

The man told his doctor he had swallowed a bottle cap after having a fight with his wife. Instead, surgeons found almost 400 g of gold in a bag in his belly.

Indian customs agents confiscated the gold after questioning the businessman, says BBC. In 2013, India raised tariffs on gold imports substantially to help balance its books. The gold bars the man is suspected of smuggling in from abroad would be subject to $17,000 in taxes, says CNN.
