Alibaba’s Singles Day in China is a fairly new holiday, created in 2009. And this year, sales figures on this day hit about $9 billion, reports MarketWatch.

In fact, sales volume for the e-commerce company were more than $2 billion within the first hour on November 11. As the day neared to a close for the China-based Alibaba Group BABA, MarketWatch notes 42.6% of sales were generated via mobile.
