United States Attorney General Eric Holder wants his government to encourage more stock market insiders to blow the whistle on illegal conduct, reports NBC.

In a statement, Holder says insider evidence is crucial to most cases against financial wrongdoers. He wants Congress to change whistleblowing law to allow for bigger rewards for those who come forward with evidence. Right now, the reward is capped at $1.6 million. Under other U.S. legislation, those who come forward with evidence of fraud in a government program are entitled to up to one-third of a settlement, reports NBC.

Holder also wants the FBI to be able to hire more white-collar crime experts.
