Britain’s Foreign Secretary William Hague is taking social media networking to new heights.
Rather than simply thanking his Twitter followers or rewarding them with retweets, he’s made a promise to meet five of his dedicated supporters.
Hague asked people on Twitter this week to send their thoughts on British foreign policy priorities and global affairs. He’ll use these responses to pick the lucky five.
He plans to meet the group collectively at London’s Foreign Office next month to discuss global issues, and give them a tour of his ministry.
Hague’s use of online media is effective; often seen as serious in person, he’s engaging and known to trade messages and jokes with fellow ministers online. By doing so, he adds another dimension to his personality and uses the platforms to become more accessible to his audience.
