Advisor’s Edge wins CFA Society Toronto awards

Advisor’s Edge has been named Publication of the Year by CFA Society Toronto.

In an award ceremony Tuesday, the Advisor team was also lauded for its investigation, “How banned IIROC and MFDA advisors can still sell insurance.” That article won CFA Society Toronto’s Spirit of the Future of Finance award, which is meant to support the CFA Institute’s efforts “to shape a trustworthy, forward-thinking financial industry that better serves society.”

Dan Bortolotti, MoneySense was awarded Journalist of the Year. Advisor Group editor-in-chief Melissa Shin and Bloomberg News’ Maciej Onoszko were finalists.

The other two finalists for the Publication of the Year were Bloomberg News and MoneySense magazine, and the other articles shortlisted for The Spirit of the Future of Finance Award were:

• “Smaller is better as Canada hedge funds outperform global rivals,” by Allison McNeely and Maciej Onoszko, Bloomberg News; and
• “TFSAs: The new way to invest even more,” by Dan Bortolotti and Julie Cazzin, MoneySense.

Advisor’s Edge was also shortlisted for Publication of the Year in 2013. In the same awards, deputy editor Suzanne Sharma was shortlisted for Journalist of the Year.
