Casey Kasem, the renowned American radio host, passed away last Sunday while family members feuded over allegations of elder abuse, says Metro Trends.

The suspected cause of death is an ulcerated bed sore—likely the result of improper care in his nursing home, Metro Trends reports.

Kasem’s case may be public, but for each case authorities know about, five more go unreported. It’s often because victims are afraid or don’t realize that what’s happening to them is a crime.

In the U.S., the Elder Justice Act was passed in 2010 and sets out penalties for elder abuse. Canadians can visit the Canadian Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse for more information.
