Mawer launches global bond fund

Mawer Investment Management has launched the Mawer Global Bond Fund.

It offers diversification across many currencies, countries and yield curves, as well as unhedged positions in currencies that have historically offered a low correlation to equities.

James Redpath and Michael Crofts will manage the fund. And Redpath says, “An emphasis is placed on high-quality bonds denominated in reserve currencies that tend to hold their store of value in periods of uncertainty.”

To date, global bonds account for approximately 75% of the more than US$200-trillion global investable market—the Canadian bond market accounts for only a small fraction.
