Toronto-based insolvency firm Stern Cohen Shier Inc. has announced it will merge with MNP LLP, one of Canada’s largest chartered accounting and consulting firms, effective September 1, 2011.

“Not only will we be strengthening our insolvency practice by gaining additional expertise and resources in communities we already operate in but we will also be helping clients regain financial balance in Etobicoke and Woodbridge ,” said Daryl Ritchie, CEO, MNP. “This is an exciting opportunity, but our top priority at the moment is to work closely with Stern Cohen Shier Inc. to ensure all clients and team members experience a smooth transition.”

Stern Cohen Shier provides consumer proposals, Division 1 proposals, personal bankruptcy and corporate bankruptcy/proposal services, as well as financial debt counselling services from six locations in Ontario.

MNP announced in May that it was merging with Herpers Chagani Gowling Inc., an insolvency firm based in southwestern Ontario. That deal will be completed August 1.

With these recent mergers, MNP will now deliver a wide range of insolvency services to individuals and corporations from more than 90 locations across Canada. staff
