New fund from FTI taps unconventional assets

Franklin Templeton Investments Corp. has introduced the Franklin Bissett Monthly Income and Growth Fund for Canadian investors seeking income generation and capital appreciation, while looking to reduce portfolio volatility.

This Canadian-focused balanced fund invests in traditional equities and fixed-income securities, as well as less conventional asset classes, with an emphasis on total returns within a disciplined risk management framework.

The fund’s monthly income is primarily derived from Canadian and U.S. dividends, interest income and option premiums. The balanced strategy focuses mainly on Canadian equity and fixed-income markets with up to 30% of its exposure in the U.S. and abroad.
