Tourism industry a moneymaker

According to the World Tourism Organization, France attracted the most tourists in 2012, but only managed to generate approximately $53.7 billion from those tourists.

So, who is best at taking money out of our pockets? The United States, which only attracted 67 million tourists last year but generated a massive $126.2 billion in revenue from them.

Perhaps this isn’t surprising when you consider that Las Vegas is one of the most popular U.S. destinations. Casinos may also explain why a small place like Macau can finish 5th on the list of receipts, generating a whopping $43.7 billion.
