About the moderator

Pat is a client and relationship-focused executive with an in-depth background in all aspects of the investment fund industry. She brings a strategic perspective while developing quality initiatives and demonstrates a clear grasp of the drivers behind client satisfaction and the impact on the bottom-line. She has spent over 35 years in the Financial Services industry and is currently the Executive Director of the Canadian ETF Association as well as supporting other organizations as they grow.  She has also been an active member on many industry committees including Fundserv, CCMA and IFIC.

About the speakers

Darim Abdullah is an ETF Strategist at Invesco with over 12 years of experience working with clients and advisors in addressing their investment management and portfolio construction needs. His primary responsibilities at Invesco include supporting the distribution team in their efforts to position Invesco’s ETFs in client portfolios, providing thought-leadership and strategic insights on Invesco’s ETF products and representing Invesco’s ETF business in industry conferences, webinars, and advisor meetings. His approach focuses on creating long-lasting partnerships by offering prudent and customized investment consulting advice while taking a portfolio-level approach when positioning strategies.

As Senior Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer for National Bank Investments, Joe is responsible for product management, risk management, business intelligence and business strategy as well as portfolio sub-advisory relations. Prior to joining National Bank, Joe spent six years at a global management consultancy in Canada, Europe and the Middle East, where he accompanied corporations and financial institutions on strategic and transformational initiatives. Joe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Concordia University, as well as an MBA from INSEAD, France. He is also a CFA and FRM charterholder.

Jonathan is Lead of ETF Distribution for the firm and works closely with the Wholesaling and National Accounts Teams across Canada with a focus on differentiating TD ETF offerings within the marketplace and driving market share growth. He has extensive experience in the Canadian Investment Industry in various roles, including Senior Sales Executive, Senior Marketing Executive, Sales Coach and Consultative Sales. Jonathan holds a Certificate in Human Resource Management from Sheridan College and an MBA from Lebow College of Business at Drexel University.

Dean Orrico brings over 35 years of investment experience to his role as President and Chief Executive Officer of Middlefield Capital Corporation (MCC) and has been employed by MCC since 1996. Dean is a respected member of the investment management community having spent many years educating financial advisors on the trends and developments in the capital markets in Canada and abroad. He is committed to excellence and integrity in funds management and is responsible for overseeing the business development and expansion of Middlefield’s asset management business and is lead manager of Middlefield’s real estate strategies.
