Today’s advisor faces a number of new challenges, from developing a personal brand to identifying and fulfilling clients’ needs as competition from robos increases.

Advisor’s Edge has assembled a series of expert panels to cover these urgent topics. The “Be a Better Advisor” event on June 18 will offer ideas from inside and outside the industry on how to boost your practice, while also marking the magazine’s 20th anniversary.

The morning event will feature the following discussions:

  • Creative director and brand strategist Chris Torbay will talk about creating a memorable, meaningful personal brand that will resonate with both clients and prospects
  • Monitor Deloitte’s Mukul Ahuja and White Glove Workshops’ Elizabeth Van Horn will outline the competition from robos and other tech, and explain how to remain customer-centric while making technology a tool rather than a competitor
  • Darren Coleman of Raymond James, Cynthia Kett of Stewart and Kett, and practice management specialist Phillip Ackers will talk about translating tough concepts for clients, and balancing financial and life advice
  • Compliance and industry expert Susan Silma will contextualize the morning’s ideas and explain how to put them into practice.

The event at Toronto’s Arcadian Court begins with breakfast and includes networking opportunities. Attendees will be able to earn up to two CE credits from IIROC, FPSC and The Institute (pending approval).

There will also be issues of the Advisor’s Edge June 20th anniversary issue, which features 20 tips on how to improve your practice.
