Toronto-based Pascal Financial announced on Wednesday it has appointed Howard Atkinson as chief strategic advisor.

Atkinson is a recognized industry leader with more than three decades of experience, the fintech firm stated in a release. Prior to joining Pascal, Atkinson served as the chairman of 3iQ, launching North America’s first major Bitcoin investment fund.

Atkinson’s roster of experience also includes actively managing ETFs in Canada as president of Horizons ETF Management, as well as holding positions at CI Funds and Mackenzie Investments and as an advisor to Wealthbar. He also was founding chairman of the Canadian ETF Association.

“In this new decade, the role of the advisor is changing to a focus on growing stronger, deeper and in-tuned client relationships,” Atkinson said. “Advisors and wealth-management firms are searching for a sophisticated and integrated technology platform that delivers a bespoke customer experience.”

Added Frances Zomer, Pascal’s chief operating officer: “As an entrepreneurial leader, Howard will provide strategic direction to amplify Pascal’s growth and industry transformation as advisors who use technology will replace those who do not.”
