As the holiday seasons kicks in to full gear, tell clients to be careful when buying items online. Otherwise, they could end up purchasing fake or stolen gift cards, and be a victim of cyber fraud.

Here are some tips to help clients, via the Toronto Star.

1. The safest way to purchase gift cards is directly through the merchant.

2. Don’t respond to unsolicited emails, or open attachments from unknown senders.

3. Monitor all credit card bills and bank statements to ensure there aren’t charges for unwarranted items.
