Advisor Group executive editor Philip Porado has been recognized for his outstanding mentorship by Women in Communications and Technology.

“He inspires his team to reach for new goals and exceed expectations of themselves,” says Donna Kerry, Advisor Group’s publisher.

Porado has worked at Advisor for 10 years, and he’s been a generous leader who has worked to develop the talents of his staff. To help train us, he taps into his expansive knowledge of finance and the craft of journalism. He started his career in the 1980s as a reporter for United Press International in Washington, D.C. He was also managing editor at Campaigns & Elections and Architecture magazines and editor of a half-dozen newsletters, including Broker-Dealer Week.

“Phil is great at recognizing and helping people develop their individual skill sets. This, in my humble opinion, is the mark of a great leader,” says Suzanne Sharma, associate managing editor of Advisor Group.

Women in Communications and Technology has chosen 13 recipients for its prestigious Annual Awards, which recognize individual and corporate leadership in advancing women’s achievement in Canada’s digital economy.

The Awards will be presented in Ottawa on April 7.

“We’re very proud of the calibre of talent we’re recognizing this year,” says Joanne Stanley, executive director, WCT. “Each person and company we’re honouring plays a significant role in defining and inspiring positive change, advancement and opportunities for women in the sectors WCT represents.”
