Mercer Canada has appointed Brian Dayes to lead its private wealth business.

Dayes is rejoining Mercer Canada after three years at insurer Ivari Canada, according to his LinkedIn profile. He had previously spent more than a decade at Mercer as the firm’s head of wealth management for Canada.

As head of Mercer’s private wealth business, Dayes will develop strategies to meet clients’ needs across tax and estate planning, financial planning and charitable giving, the firm said in a release.

“Our clients will benefit from his breadth of experience and ability to lead our Mercer team in developing research-based wealth management solutions that balance risk with consistent returns, creating opportunities in various market conditions,” said Teresa Palandra, partner and wealth business leader at Mercer Canada, in a statement.

Last year, Mercer tapped James Virgo to lead the private wealth business. According to Virgo’s LinkedIn profile, he moved to Assante Wealth Management in March.
