Thunderstorms that moved through southern Ontario on Tuesday spawned a tornado.

So says Environment Canada, which confirmed yesterday that a tornado touched down in Glenarm, 70 kilometers north of Oshawa.

Though there were no reported injuries—and despite the fact that Canadians face a significantly lower risk than Americans of finding themselves in the path of a tornado—Tuesday’s event should serve as a reminder that Canadians need to prepare for the worst. Read more.
