Andrew Edgell has been appointed senior managing director and global head of credit investments with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), effective immediately.

In his new role, Edgell will lead the credit investments department, which is responsible for all of CPPIB’s public and private credit investments globally.

“Credit investing is a growth area for CPP Investments, and under Andrew’s leadership, I’m confident in the team’s ability to achieve its goal to double the size of the credit portfolio in the coming years,” John Graham, president and CEO of CPPIB, said in a release.

According to the release, CPPIB’s credit investments portfolio reached $41.9 billion in assets at the end of last year.

Edgell joined CPPIB in 2008 as part of the then-new credit team. He most recently served as managing director, head of Americas structured credit and financials, in addition to being the interim head of credit strategy over the past fiscal year.
