CWB Financial Group has signed on to the United Nations’ effort to advance gender equity and female empowerment, known as the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles.

The Edmonton-based financial firm, which operates Canadian Western Bank and a collection of subsidiaries, has joined the global initiative, which aims to further gender equity by giving companies a framework to establish practices and policies that support gender equality and promote female empowerment.

“At CWB Financial Group we’re working hard to foster equality and nurture an inclusive environment where each and every employee can bring their whole self to work, and where there are no barriers to personal success,” said Chris Fowler, president and CEO of CWB.

“We’ve made significant strides in inclusion and diversity; however, our work is never done. The signing of this UN initiative affirms our continued commitment to gender equality,” Fowler said.
