Kingston, Ont.–based Empire Life Insurance Co. made various executive-level appointments on Wednesday.

Edward Gibson, Empire Life’s former CFO, has been appointed as the company’s senior vice-president of capital management. Gibson will remain the company’s chief actuary, a position he’s held since 2018.

“Capital management is an increasingly vital part of our business,” said Mark Sylvia, president and CEO of Empire Life, in a release. “This appointment recognizes Edward’s exceptional leadership and knowledge in the actuarial, capital preservation and capital growth portfolios.”

Stepping into Gibson’s former role as CFO is Rebecca Rycroft, who joined Empire Life earlier this year and was previously CFO with Munich Re Canada.

Other appointments included Christine Jewell as vice-president and chief compliance officer. Jewell has been with Empire Life for more than 12 years, most recently serving as the company’s director of compliance.
