Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada made changes to its executive team on Tuesday.

Donna Carbell has been hired as senior vice-president of individual insurance with Equitable Life, while Tara Proper has been promoted to senior vice-president of investments. They replace Karen Mason and Paul English, respectively, who are retiring at the end of 2021.

Carbell joins Equitable Life after more than 20 years with Manulife, where she held senior positions across various divisions of the company. Carbell will now oversee Equitable Life’s product development, distribution, marketing and client service for individual insurance.

Proper will lead the Equitable Asset Management Group, which manages the company’s overall investment portfolio and segregated funds. Proper has been with Equitable for 24 years.

Carbell and Proper assume their positions immediately.

In March, Equitable announced former president and CEO Ronald Beettam would be retiring, and appointed Fabien Jeudy to replace him.
