Evolve Funds Group Inc. has filed a preliminary prospectus, with Canadian securities regulators, for an actively managed ETF that will focus on blockchain technologies.

The fund will be called the Evolve Blockchain ETF, and has been designed to invest in the equity securities of issuers involved in the research, development or utilization of blockchain technologies. It will also invest in securities linked to the supply chain for blockchain applications including technology hardware.

Other ETFs are also getting into the space. First Trust Portfolios Canada has also filed a preliminary prospectus to launch a blockchain ETF, reports The Globe and Mail. Another fund, offered by Harvest Portfolios, will start trading next week making it Canada’s first blockchain fund.

In September, Evolve Funds Group filed a separate preliminary prospectus for Canada’s first cryptocurrency ETF, a fund that hasn’t yet been launched. In a letter dated Dec. 13, 2017, the OSC says the final prospectus must be filed by March 20.

In November, Horizons ETFs launched the Horizons Active A.I. Global Equity ETF, which is the first equity-focused ETF in the world to use artificial intelligence for investment decisions.
