First day on the job for new Scotiabank CEO

Today Brian Porter replaces Rick Waugh as Scotiabank’s CEO.

Porter has been serving as president since November 2012. Last May the bank announced he would succeed Waugh, who spent 43 years at the bank with the last 10 as CEO. Porter now holds both roles.

Porter joined Scotiabank in 1981. He’s served as the bank’s chief risk officer, as group head of Risk & Treasury and most recently as group head of International Banking from 2010 to 2012.

Scotiabank has operations in 55 countries.
