Former Google CFO joins Wealthsimple’s board

atrick Pichette, partner with Inovia Capital, has joined Wealthsimple’s board of directors.

Inovia was one of several investors in Wealthsimple’s $750-million fundraising round in May that valued the company at $5 billion.

In addition to serving on Wealthsimple’s board, Pichette is currently the chairman of the Twitter and Lightspeed POS Inc. boards.

Prior to joining Inovia, Pichette was Google’s CFO from 2008 to 2015. He was involved in Google’s corporate mergers-and-acquisitions agenda and worked on close to 150 acquisitions, including a $3-billion deal to acquire Nest and a $13-billion deal to acquire Motorola.

“Patrick’s experience guiding innovative companies through periods of rapid change will help position Wealthsimple for long-term success,” Michael Katchen, co-founder and CEO of Wealthsimple, said in a release.
