IA Clarington launches RI mutual fund

IA Clarington has launched the IA Clarington Inhance Bond SRI Fund, which is being touted as fossil-fuel-free.

The fixed-income fund invests primarily in a diversified selection of government and corporate debt securities, as well as preferred shares.

The fund will be sub-advised by Vancity Investment Management Ltd. and led by portfolio manager Jeffrey Lew, alongside portfolio managers Andrew Simpson and Dermot Foley.

In addition to being fossil-fuel-free, the fund will meet socially responsible investing (SRI) criteria and has been designed for investors seeking income and capital preservation.

Responsible investing is a trend that is growing in popularity among Canadian investors, who now hold more than $1 trillion in responsible investments, according to the Responsible Investment Association (RIA). This growth has been fuelled by both retail and institutional investors, including large pension funds.
