IA Financial Group has a new chief growth officer.

The Quebec City-based insurance and wealth management firm has appointed Michael Stickney as executive vice-president and chief growth officer, effective Sept. 1, the firm said in a release on Thursday.

Stickney was most recently head of iA’s U.S. operations. He started his career in the insurance industry in 1976 and occupied various insurance-related positions, joining iA Financial Group in 1999 with the acquisition of Seaboard Life, the release said.

Prior to being responsible for the company’s U.S. operations, he was head of two divisions: dealer services and special markets solutions.

In his new role, he’ll oversee growth initiatives for all lines of business in both and the U.S., the release said, and will report to Denis Ricard, president and CEO. He’ll also work closely with Lilia Sham, executive vice-president of corporate development, on acquisition opportunities, and he’ll continue to be a member of the company’s planning committee.
