IG Wealth Management has introduced new portfolios to help clients who want to address the risks tied to climate change.

A suite of four managed solutions, called the IG Climate Action Portfolios, aims to provide clients with the opportunity to both support and take advantage of the global transition to net-zero emissions, the Winnipeg-based firm said on Monday.

The new portfolios are the:

  • IG Climate Action Portfolio – Global Fixed Income Balanced, with an annual management fee of up to 0.60%;
  • IG Climate Action Portfolio – Global Neutral Balanced, with an annual management fee of up to 0.65%;
  • IG Climate Action Portfolio – Global Equity Balanced, with an annual management fee of up to 0.70%; and
  • IG Climate Action Portfolio – Global Equity, with an annual management fee of up to 0.75%.

The portfolios will invest in both equity and fixed-income securities that aim to reduce climate risk, or at least benefit from opportunities associated with climate change or the transition to a net-zero emissions global economy, a release said.

Additionally, as part of their strategies, the portfolios will focus primarily on companies that are best-in-class when it comes to climate policies and/or have exposure to green transition initiatives, lower carbon intensive sectors, or climate-focused stewardship practices.

“We expect the global shift to a net zero emissions future to present extraordinary investment opportunities as economies refocus their efforts to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” said Damon Murchison, president and CEO, IG Wealth Management.
