Each week, Advisor.ca reports on notable moves across the financial industry.

  • Christine Tessier is the new chief investment officer with Vancouver-based Harbourfront Wealth Management Inc. She is a former CIO of Toronto-based insurer Foresters Financial, with a release from Harbourfront noting that she has decades of experience in the financial industry. She’s also worked with companies such as Invesco Canada and Mercer Canada.
  • Ken Tsang has been named chief financial officer (CFO) with AGF Management Ltd., effective June 1. He has nearly 30 years of experience in financial services, most recently as CFO and head of strategy and business development with Capital One Canada (based in Toronto). He has also worked with major banks, including BMO Financial Group. AGF said in a release that it will leverage his global experience in wealth management, retail banking and capital markets.
  • Gayle Murdoch has been permanently appointed as senior vice-president, sales effectiveness and performance, with Canada Life. She stepped up last year as the interim leader of that team “to accelerate growth and innovation,” a release said, working on aspects such as the organization’s managing general agent strategy and digital offerings. She first joined Canada Life in 2021, having previously worked for more than 15 years in various roles with CIBC.
  • Dawn Desjardins was recently named chief economist with Toronto-based Deloitte Canada. She was previously deputy chief economist with Royal Bank of Canada, where she worked for more than 15 years. Her industry experience and “voice of authority” when it comes to forecasting will help Deloitte and its clients navigate the current economy, said Trevin Stratton, Americas leader and partner, economic advisory with Deloitte, in a release.
