Each week, Advisor’s Edge summarizes notable management shifts across the financial and wealth management industry.
- The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) recently listed the members of its stakeholder advisory committee for financial planners and financial advisors, a new group for which 14 volunteers were being sought in July for two-year terms that would begin in the fall. The 12 current members — who are leaders familiar with areas such as accreditation and certification, financial planning and/or consumer advocacy — include professionals from wealth firms and big banks as well as industry associations like FP Canada, Advocis and CFA Societies Canada. Member Greg Pollock, president and CEO of Advocis, said in a release that “emerging trends and consumer issues” tied to title regulation will be addressed, and the mandate also will include informing on FSRA’s planning, budget and rulemaking.
- Mark White, CEO of FSRA since 2018, is now leading the market conduct working group of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors. His appointment will help FSRA more effectively share practices and develop policies through “active partnership” with insurance watchdogs across “more than 200 jurisdictions,” an announcement said.
- Jeff Zweig has been named partner, vice-chair and head of asset management for global, private investment firm Fiera Comox Partners, an affiliate of Montreal-based Fiera Capital Corporation. Zweig has 25 years of experience in the mining and resources industry, and a release said that he was most recently president and CEO of Nanaimo, B.C.-based Mosaic Forest Management. Fiera Comox had approximately $3 billion in assets under management as of Sept. 30, the release noted.
- Kristina Fanjoy is now senior managing director and CFO for the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments). She’s been with the organization since 2010, most recently in the role of managing director and head of finance, and previously worked for KPMG Canada.
