Each week, Advisor’s Edge summarizes notable management shifts across the financial and wealth management industry.

  • Manulife Financial Corp. announced earlier this week that Naveed Irshad has been appointed president and CEO of its Canadian operations, effective June 1. Irshad succeeds Michael Doughty, who is scheduled to retire this September. At the moment, Irshad is Manulife Financial’s global head of inforce management and head of the North American legacy business.
  • Also at Manulife Financial, Aimee DeCamillo has been appointed global head of retirement for wealth manager Manulife Investment Management, effective May 23. She is based in Boston and will report to Manulife Investment Management CEO Paul Lorentz, Manulife said in a release.  DeCamillo most recently served as chief commercial officer for Lansing, Mich.-based life insurer and annuity provider Jackson Financial Inc. Before that, she was president and head of retirement plan services for T. Rowe Price.
  • Petar Pejovic, now a senior portfolio manager at Wellington-Altus Private Wealth, announced this week that Pejovic & Associates Private Wealth Management had moved to the new firm from RBC Dominion Securities. Pejovic spent 20 years working with RBC and was an advisor at BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. before that.
  • Jamey Hubbs, who was named vice-superintendent at the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) in April 2022, will retire in October 2022. Hubbs joined OSFI in 2012, first taking on the role of assistant superintendent of the deposit-taking supervision sector. As vice-superintendent, he is in charge of two sectors: policy innovation and stakeholder affairs; and strategy, risk and governance. Hubbs has also worked at three of the Big Six banks as well as HSBC Securities.
  • Effective September 2022, Linda Mezon-Hutter will join the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) as a member. She’s currently chairperson for the Canadian Accounting Standards Board (AcSB), a role she’s held since July 2013. Mezon-Hutter has been a member of the AcSB since 2004. Prior to leading the AcSB, she was a chief accountant with RBC. Her term with AcSB was scheduled to end June 2023 and the organization is already searching for a new leader.
