Lewis Kent, 27, has won the 2021 Distinguished New Advisor Award at the virtual Distinguished Advisor Conference, the Knowledge Bureau announced on Monday.

Kent, a CFP and an associate advisor with SPM Financial in London, Ont., has built a growing business serving the financial planning needs of physicians.

“Lewis has brought not only financial peace of mind, but also empathy and a significant commitment to his community by setting lofty goals and achieving them,” said Evelyn Jacks, president of Knowledge Bureau.

The DAC New Advisor Award is open to advisors who have been in the tax and financial services industry for five or fewer years, regardless of age, and who have contributed to excellence in their industry sectors. Winners receive a scholarship to the DAC.

Lewis, who began his financial services career four years ago, has ranked in the top 10 in Canada for providing disability insurance solutions to medical students and residents. Lewis is listed on Business London’s “Top 20 in Their Twenties” and he maintains a leadership role in several community groups in London.

“Being able to provide advice to medical professionals who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic has been the single most rewarding part of my career to date,” said Kent in the release. “It has been an honour and a privilege to work with so many hardworking clients that are making such a huge difference every day.”

The 2020 Distinguished New Advisor Award winner was Frank Ryan, a financial advisor with Ryco Financial in St. John’s, N.L.
