KPMG Canada has appointed Lucy Iacovelli as the Canadian managing partner for tax and chief administrative officer of KPMG Law LLP.

Iacovelli will assume both roles on Oct. 1, succeeding Greg Wiebe.

After more than 25 years in the industry, Iacovelli has become highly experienced in tax planning, corporate reorganization, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and tax dispute resolution, a release from KPMG said.

Iacovelli previously led the firm’s financial services tax practice before becoming KPMG’s tax business unit leader for the GTA in 2016.

“Lucy is a highly regarded leader in our firm and in the marketplace. Her focus on technical excellence and client care is an inspiration to all our partners,” said Elio Luongo, CEO of KPMG in Canada. “I am very excited to have Lucy join our National Management Committee. She brings amazing energy and an unwavering commitment to our people and clients.”

Wiebe has been with KPMG for more than three decades. He will remain with the firm and serve as the chair of the national digital executive team.
