Mackenzie, Fiera, FTI make appointments

Mackenzie Investments has hired Alex Bellefleur as chief economist and strategist of its multi-asset strategies team, effective Sept. 17.

Prior to this appointment, Bellefleur served at Pavilion Global Markets Ltd. in Montreal, most recently as head of global macro strategy and research, says a release.

Mackenzie has also hired Blair Ireland as a portfolio manager to serve on the team. He’s previously been a portfolio manager and researcher at the CPP Investment Board and Citadel, says the release.

Fiera Capital Corporation has appointed Donald LeCavalier as executive vice-president and global chief financial officer, effective Oct. 1.

LeCavalier most recently served as senior vice-president of finance and corporate affairs at TC Transcontinental, says a release.

Franklin Templeton Investments said Wednesday that Sonal Desai will take over as chief investment officer of its fixed income group, effective Dec. 31.

She will oversee the firm’s corporate credit, emerging markets debt, bank loan and other fixed income strategies and teams, which manage $157 billion assets around the world, a release said.

Desai is replacing Chris Molumphy, who will retire after 30 years with the firm.
