Toronto-based Mackenzie Investments is diving deeper into the liquid alternative space with the launch of a new fund.

Mackenzie Alternative Enhanced Yield Fund offers investors a 5% fixed annual distribution, which will be paid monthly.

To meet this goal, the fund invests in a global selection of fixed income securities and equities, and uses alternative strategies such as long and short positions. The fund’s asset mix will usually range between 45% and 65% fixed income, and 35% and 55% equities.

Matthew Cardillo, vice-president and portfolio manager, Mackenzie Investments, is the new fund’s portfolio manager.

This new offering brings Mackenzie’s suite of liquid alt funds to five. Mackenzie launched its first liquid alt fund in May 2018.
