Financial industry veteran Ray Kindiak has been named a commissioner at the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC).

Kindiak has been appointed to a two-year term as a part-time commissioner. OSC commissioners serve on the regulator’s hearing panels, oversee its rule-making and function as its board.

The newest commissioner has been an analyst and an investment banker, with stints at Canaccord Capital and Research Capital. He’s also a lawyer, and was most recently managing director at Sinclair Range Inc., a specialist in corporate turnarounds.

“We welcome the breadth of experience Ray brings to the OSC,” OSC chair Maureen Jensen said in a statement.

“His involvement in the capital markets from various perspectives will be beneficial as we advance a regulatory framework that maintains investor protections and responds to evolving business and market demands,” she added.
