Toronto-based BlackRock Asset Management Inc. has confirmed that Pat Chiefalo will leave the firm on Friday.

Chiefalo, the managing director and head of iShares Canada, is leaving the company to “pursue new opportunities,” BlackRock said in an emailed statement to Advisor’s Edge on Thursday.

Chiefalo joined BlackRock in 2014 as managing director, head of product, iShares, and took the reins as head of iShares in 2017.

An industry veteran, he previously worked in the ETF space at National Bank Financial.

“We want to thank Pat for his contribution to building the foundation of iShares’ ongoing success in Canada, which is an important growth market for our company,” BlackRock said.

Chiefalo’s departure was first reported by the Globe and Mail.
