Steve Hawkins retires from Horizons

  • Steve Hawkins, president and CEO of Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc., announced his retirement as of today, Nov. 22. Hawkins held the role for seven years and has spent 15 years total with the company. Hawkins will advise the new president and CEO and assist with the transition. A “global search” will begin for Hawkins’ replacement, a release said. In the meantime, Jasmit Bhandal, chief operating officer, has been appointed interim president and CEO.
  • Coby Bucci has joined Vancouver-based Harbourfront Wealth Management Inc. as senior vice-president of corporate development. She comes from Toronto-based NEI Investments, where she was most recently vice-president of sales. Bucci will lead product innovation and asset management growth at Harbourfront, as well as boost the firm’s responsible investing practices, a release said.
  • The Portfolio Management Association of Canada (PMAC) has revealed its board of directors for 2022-2023. The chairman is Scott Mahaffy, vice-president and managing counsel, Canada, with Toronto-based MFS Investment Management Canada Ltd. Mahaffy has been a PMAC board member for seven years. Newly appointed directors were Janine Guenther with Dixon Mitchell Investment Counsel Inc. and Geoffrey Ritchie with Mawer Investment Management Ltd.
