While a lot of people were at the cottage this summer, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), the organization that governs broadcasting and telecommunications, finally made good on legislation passed in 2005 that gives it powers to regulate telemarketing and establish a national do-not-call registry. Clients were allowed to start signing up for this list on September 30. Most likely don’t realize this action affects their existing business relationship with you.

We followed developments this summer to find out more about the rules, costs and ways of working with the list to avoid the fines and penalties — significant ones — the CRTC can now levy.
