Need to break the ice with clients about planning for a natural disaster?

Ask your clients, “What would you do if your basement flooded?” Review their insurance policies with them to see if they need more coverage. Discuss preventative measures that could bring down their premiums. And, check with your municipality to see if it offers tax breaks or rebates for installation of backwater valves and other preventative measures. If a client has done these improvements, ensure they inform their property and casualty insurers as they’re likely due a premium reduction.
