Mackenzie Financial Corporation is proposing a change to the investment objectives of its Symmetry Global Equity Fund.

It’s seeking to narrow the investment objectives of the fund, such that it will pursue long-term capital growth by investing mainly in companies in emerging markets instead of those located anywhere in the world.

Currently Mackenzie Investments is the only investor in this fund, and the fund isn’t sold to retail investors. It will continue to only be available for investments by other Mackenzie managed mutual funds.

This change is expected to take effect on February 20, 2015. Concurrent with the change, Symmetry Global Equity Fund will be renamed to the Mackenzie Emerging Markets Opportunities Fund.
