The independent Investor Advisory Panel, which provides the retail investor perspective to policymakers at the Ontario Securities Commission, has added two new members, the OSC said today in a release.

Ilana Singer, vice-president and corporate secretary at the Canadian Investor Protection Fund, is joining the panel for a two-year term effective Jan. 1. Singer is also chair of the Toronto Centre Securities Advisory Board and is a securities expert with the International Monetary Fund. She is former chief operating officer and deputy director of investor advocacy group the Canadian Foundation for Advancement of Investor Rights, or FAIR Canada.

Also joining the panel for a two-year term is a retired federal civil servant who is national director of the National Association of Federal Retirees. During his public-service career, Brunet was, among other positions, director of legal services at the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada, and crown prosecutor for both the Quebec ministry of justice and the attorney general of Ontario.

The Investor Advisory Panel provides the OSC with input on proposed rules, policies and other investor protection initiatives. It is currently chaired by Neil Gross, a veteran securities lawyer and former executive director of FAIR Canada.
