Scotiabank, Tangerine appoint senior execs

Jake Lawrence and James Neate will become co-heads of Scotiabank’s global banking and markets division, replacing the retiring Dieter Jentsch, the bank said Friday. And Gillian Riley will succeed Brenda Rideout as president and CEO of Tangerine.

Riley, who joined Scotiabank in 1994, was most recently executive vice-president for commercial banking.

Riley, Lawrence and Neate will assume their roles on Dec. 1, the bank said. Jentsch will stay on as a strategic advisor until January to help with the transition.

Neate was appointed global head of corporate and investment banking earlier this month. Lawrence was appointed executive vice-president of global banking and markets for the U.S. in May, and he will continue to lead that division, a release said.
