Sun Life appoints first chief sustainability officer

Sun Life Financial has appointed Alanna Boyd as senior vice-president and its first chief sustainability officer.

Boyd’s mandate will focus on building the company’s long-term economic, environmental and social commitments.

Boyd joined Sun Life in 2016 following three years with the International Development Research Centre, where she was a governor. At Sun Life, she most recently served as the vice-president of government, regulatory affairs and sustainability.

Boyd will report to Kevin Strain, president and CEO at Sun Life.

In Q2 2021, Sun Life Financial Inc.’s net income increased 73% to $900 million.
