David Wong, FRM, CFA

Chief Investment Officer, Managing Director and Head, Total Investment Solutions

David is responsible for CIBC Asset Management’s managed solutions investment process. His Total Investment Solutions team determines the asset allocations, constructs the portfolios, researches the managers, and monitors the investments of the firm’s managed solutions. The team is also responsible for trading execution, beta management, and the efficient implementation of investment strategies. In addition, David is a member of the CIBC Family Office’s Leadership Team and provides institutional asset allocation advice to ultra-high net worth individuals and families.

David joined CIBC Asset Management in July 2011, and served as Managing Director, Investment Management Research (IMR) until June 2021. David has more than 25 years of industry experience in New York and Toronto. Before joining CIBC Asset Management, David was Senior Research Analyst for Russell Investments, covering a broad spectrum of fixed-income strategies on behalf of institutional and retail clients.

David holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University. He is a CFA Charterholder and also holds the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation from the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
