OBSI names new board members

It’s made changes to the composition of its board, as well as to the processes used to identify director candidates.

At the group’s recent annual meeting in Calgary, three new directors took office:

• Jim Emmerton will serve as a community director. He’s an experienced senior executive with broad expertise in public interest operations. Since 2007, he’s been the executive director of the B.C. Law Institute and Canadian Centre for Elder Law. Emmerton

• Kevin E. Regan will serve as an industry director. He’s executive vice-president and CFO of IGM Financial, following more than two decades with the company in a variety of senior roles. He’s currently on the board of directors for the MFDA Investor Protection Corporation, and for the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba.

• Janis Riven will also serve as a community director. She’s a governance and compliance consultant, as well as an adjunct professor at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University. Prior to 2003, she worked in the financial industry in a variety of legal and compliance roles.

These new directors will join Fernand Bélisle, who also took office as a community director at the AGM. They’ll replace long- Daniel F. Gallivan, Leonard G. Flett, Ed Legzdins, and Peggy-Anne Brown, who’s outgoing Chair.

Re-elected to new terms were industry directors Lynne Kilpatrick and Craig Hayman.
