Ireland launches fund for women entrepreneurs

Ireland has launched a £250-million, government-supported fund called the Competitive Feasibility Fund for Female Entrepreneurs.

It’s specifically geared to women starting export-oriented businesses.

Ireland has relatively few female entrepreneurs. The fund plans to bolster their numbers, the hope being these female-led start-ups will create jobs.

The fund targets businesses which will directly make money for Ireland: both manufacturing and internationally traded services businesses.

Key sectors for the fund include food, cloud computing, engineering, electronics, and even computer games.

The closing date for applications to the fund is September 4, 2012.
