BetaPro Management has launched two new ETFs offering investors exposure to the S&P 500 VIX volatility index.

The Horizons BetaPro S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETF and the Horizons BetaPro S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures Bull Plus ETF began trading on the TSX today. The Bull Plus ETF offers leveraged exposure to the index.

“You cannot invest directly in CBOE’s VIX Index, but our ETFs will allow investors to access the volatility of the S&P500 Index,” said Howard Atkinson, President of BetaPro. “These two new ETFs offer investors the opportunity to gain exposure to changes in levels of volatility in the U.S. stock market; therefore stock market volatility does not necessarily need to be something that investors have to fear.”

Both ETFs hedge investors’ exposure to the U.S. dollar.
