Toronto-based CI Financial Corp. has partnered with private markets investment management firm Adams Street Partners, LLC.

According to a Tuesday release, Adams Street will develop investments for CI that offer exposure to private-market companies in global markets.

“Our liquid alternatives lineup has performed comparatively well during the recent volatility and we are expanding our product choices in alternatives by adding private markets options,” said Kurt MacAlpine, CI’s chief executive officer.

Adams Street manages US$40 billion across four offices in the United States, as well as offices in London, Munich, Singapore, Beijing, Tokyo and Seoul.

“Our partnership will allow us to provide Canadian investors with access to a global portfolio of private equity and private credit investments,” said Jeff Diehl, Adams Street’s managing partner and head of investments. “Historically, these investments have primarily been available only to large institutional investors.”
