Testing new toys and games for Toys R Us has kept Alex Thorne, 13, busy for the past two years, but now he’s ready to call its quits, reports the Toronto Star.

The gig meant that Alex got to try out the hottest new toys before they’re in stores. He’s enjoyed the advanced access, but he told the Star his favourite part of the job has been travelling. He’s gone across the country to appear on morning shows and give advice to parents on what their next birthday or holiday purchase should be.

Still, he says he’s getting too old for the job, so he’s stepping down. But his post-retirement schedule will still be full – aside from going to school, he acts in Disney and Nickelodeon children’s shows. Read more about Alex here.
